Trumpet

 

The triumphant trumpet! The trumpet was one of the earliest jazz instruments, played by such pioneers of the music as Buddy Bolden, Louis Armstrong and Bix Biderbecke.

Tips:

  • Teach students how to buzz their lips. See if they can buzz “high” and “low”!

  • Discuss the use of trumpet mutes and their distinct sounds, from Miles Davis’ Harmon mute to Louis Armstrong’s plunger mute.
